Police are investigating a possible arson fire that occurred in a wooded area behind the Lawrenceville Exxon gas station on Brunswick Pike, which was reported at 9:21 p.m., according to police Detective Sergeant Joseph Amodio.
A caller reported seeing smoke and flames in the wooded area on the gasoline station property, but no on was observed in the area, Detective Amodio said. An employee of the gas station splashed water on the fire to extinguish it while waiting for the Lawrence Road Fire Co. to respond.
Investigation revealed that two pieces of paper towel had been twirled together and set afire, Detective Amodio said. The incident is being investigated as a possible arson. There was no property damage, he said.
The incident is under investigation by police officer Andres Mejia and Detective Robert Potter.
