Church committee plans Clothing Drive

The St. Bernadette’s Social Concerns Committee will host its Clothing Drive 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 13 in the church parking lot near the Lourdes Center, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin section of Old Bridge.

Donations of clean, usable clothing, bags, belts, hard toys (no larger than 24 by 24 by 21 inches), stuffed animals, pillows, blankets, curtains, towels, bedspreads, drapes and sheets should be placed in plastic bags and dropped off in the church parking lot. Shoes should be put in a separate bag marked “Shoes.” Bicycles also are needed.

Donated clothing and toys will be shipped to Poland, the Republic of Georgia, Ghana, Liberia, Honduras, Nicaragua, Haiti and India. Items are sold at local markets and thrift stores at low, affordable prices. Nothing will be shredded or cut into industrial rags. Receipts will be available for tax purposes.

Student assistants are needed at 12:30 p.m. for 30 minutes only.

Donations cannot be accepted before April 13 due to lack of storage space. Unwanted donations left anywhere on the grounds will be discarded.

Proceeds from the drive will benefit local families in need.
