A woman came into headquarters about 1:35 p.m. March 18 to report that within the last hour she had been followed around in Walmart on North Main Street by a man she described as 5 feet 10 inches, in his late 50s, with a gray scruffy beard and dressed in all dark colors. The two never made contact, she said, but she wanted the incident on the record.
• Bridgewater police called at 7:50 a.m. March 19 about a 9-1-1 call from QuickChek reporting a trapped ferret in a lot on Brooks Boulevard. Animal control was called and removed the animal.
• Manville Public Works reported at 8:43 a.m. March 19 the theft of two plow pumps, valued at a total of $5,000, which were unbolted from borough trucks and removed from the borough public works yard on William Street.
• Several callers reported an oversize truck pulling down power, cable and phone lines in the 1400 block of West Camplain Road at 11:13 a.m. March 19. Patrol officers reported cable lines down along the 1900 block, too. Fire, rescue squad, PSE&G and Verizon were all dispatched to respond.
• At 9:03 a.m. March 20 Adesa Auto Auction on North Main Street reported an employee theft of an airbag, valued at $1,300, that had been removed from a vehicle. An investigation continues.
• A resident called to say that two men tried to enter a house at Duke’s Parkway and North 8th Avenue at about 11 a.m. March 20. Patrol officers reported the home was secure and any perpetrators were gone without getting in.
• Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation at a North Main Street address at 2:34 p.m. March 20. Emma Pincowsky, 43, of Eatontown, and Elena Kostova, 30, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were charged with borough ordinance violations for unlicensed massage therapy and related violations. They were released on their own recognizance.
Also charged with nine massage/spa borough regulation-related offenses was the owner of the spa, Aleksandr Shavulskiy, 22, of Brooklyn.
• A South Main Street store employee reported at 5:38 p.m. March 20 a female was grabbed by an unknown juvenile outside the store. Police responded, but the juvenile was gone. Investigation continues.
• Green Brook police called at 7:42 p.m. March 20 to say that a 29-year-old woman had told them she had been sexually assaulted in Manville on March 18. Green Brook police took her to Somerset Medical Center, and Patrolman Ryan Steier talked to her there. Detective Lt. John Crater was advised, and the investigation was to continue.
• Police and fire departments responded to a report of an oven fire on Duke’s Parkway at 6:12 p.m. March 21. Patrols said the fire was out when they arrived.
• A caller told police that Julio Gutierrez of Bound Brook was at a North 7th Avenue address at 11:13 p.m. March 21. Police came and arrested him on a Somerset County Prosecutor’s warrant for possession of a hypodermic needle and a controlled dangerous substance. No bail was set and he was taken to Somerset County Jail at 2:55 a.m.
• At 7:38 a.m. March 22 a South Street caller reported the theft, sometime in the last 10 days, of a spare tire and rim, valued at $500 and stored under her vehicle.
• Patrolman Todd Widitz assisted with a SWAT call conducting a high-risk search warrant in Bound Brook at noon on March 22.
• At 6:24 p.m. March 22 a South Main Street woman reported finding a debit card in the parking lot of her residence. Police left a phone message for the card owner.
• A caller at 2:04 p.m. March 23 reported a dead rabbit stuck in the fence between her house and the neighbor’s on South 10th Avenue. Patrols checked it out and told her to contact her landlord to remove it.
• Numerous callers at about 5:23 p.m. March 23 reported a brush fire on Millstone River Road near Pizza and Pasta. Hillsborough police were notified. Manville patrols assisted.
• A caller at 7:14 p.m. March 23 said that gasoline was leaking from a parked 1997 pickup truck with a plow on Beekman Street. A tow truck was dispatched to remove it. The truck was registered to a North 2nd Avenue maintenance company, but no one was able to be contacted.
• QuickChek’s manager called at 8:39 p.m. March 23 to say that disorderly juveniles who were asked to leave the store were hanging out in the parking lot on Brooks Boulevard. Police told the juveniles not to return to the store.
• Responding to a call at 11:42 a.m. March 24, police picked up a 20-inch BMX bicycle lying against the fence near the soccer fields and put it in the storage shed after determining its serial number wasn’t listed in any crime listing.
