WEST AMWELL — The South Hunterdon Regional High School school board adopted a $11,146,238 budget for 2013-14 on March 21, Kelly Sevilis, district business administrator, said Monday.
Minor changes were made to the $11,131,128 budget the school board introduced March 4.
The budget “is within cap with adjustments,” Ms. Sevilis said recently. “It will not go to voters.”
Now for the tax impacts:
— For a Lambertville house assessed at $350,000, the annual school tax bill will go down $18 from last year, officials said.
— For a West Amwell residence assessed at that amount, the school tax bill will go up $225 from last year’s bill.
— For a Stockton house assessed at that amount, the tax bill will go up $196 from last year.
The differing tax impacts result from use of a state-mandated formula that takes into account the disparity between assessed property values and market property values.
Under the adopted budget, which has been approved by the Hunterdon County superintendent of schools, local taxes will raise an estimated $9,241,000 of the total budget, with an estimated $1,891,000 balance coming from other anticipated sources of revenue.
Debt service in the budget totals $1,604,985, of which $1,202,209 will be paid by local taxes, with the $402,756 balance covered by other sources of revenue.
Included in the budget is an adjustment for increased costs of health benefits in the amount of $18,544. The additional funds are included in the base budget and will be used to pay for the additional increases in health benefits.
The spending plan also has provisions for reimbursements for school staff and school board member travel and related expenses, which are related to and within their job responsibilities.
There is an annual limit of $150 for staff and board members on those reimbursable expenses. The maximum amount the budget allows for all staff and board members is $65,000.
