A seminar to prepare K-12 substitute teachers will be held at Middlesex County College this spring. The fourevening program is aimed at both prospective substitutes as well as those currently employed.
Classes will be held at 6-9 p.m. on Thursday evenings (April 11, 18, 25 and May 2).
“This class will give you constructive ideas on how to approach the classroom as a substitute,” Kimberlee Hooper, director of school relations, said. “It offers an overview of classroom management, how to make a positive first impression, effective lesson plans, and discipline. You will also review the required paperwork to apply.”
Qualifications to be a substitute include a minimum of 60 earned college credits, passing a criminal background check, and evidence of a negative Mantoux (TB) test. The cost of the program is $200. For more information, contact the Office of School Relations at 732-548- 6000, ext. 3144.
