RUMSON — Congregation B’nai Israel of Rumson is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a gala fundraiser on April 20 at 7:30 p.m.
“Members, nonmembers and the community at-large are invited to celebrate this milestone with us,“ Fran Semaya, president of the congregation, said in a press release.
The congregation was officially chartered on Jan. 5, 1922, at Red Bank Borough Hall. It began with just 40 families above a storefront on West Front Street. By 1923, a growing membership necessitated a move to 10 Riverside Ave. in Red Bank.
To accommodate more members, a school and a social hall, the congregation again moved in 1958 to the current location at 171 Ridge Road in Rumson, at the corner of Hance and Ridge Roads.
Longtime members Harold and Adelaide Komar, of Little Silver, and Sandy and Mark Rosenbloom, of Lincroft, will be honored at the gala.
Tickets for the gala are $118 per person. The evening will include a cocktail reception and live entertainment. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available.
In addition, a 2013 Mercedes Benz C300W4 Sedan (a $50,000 value) will be raffled off at 10 p.m. Raffle tickets are available at $100.
