ERIC SUCAR staff LONG BRANCH — A joint investigation into the murders of a man and woman found dead last week at a Sairs Avenue home is ongoing, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday.

But the prosecutor’s office, which is working with the Long Branch Police Department (LBPD) on the homicides, remained tight-lipped on the cause of death.

Charles Webster, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, said authorities are not ready to release a cause of death or the names of any suspects in the murders of Maria Yolanda Cotejo- Munoz, 35, of 678 Joline Ave., and Feredis Venturo, 33, of 418 Sairs Ave.

Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said during a March 26 press conference held at the Sairs Avenue crime scene that the bodies of the victims were discovered at approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 25.

He said the two were involved in a romantic relationship, and the incident is not being investigated as a murder-suicide.

“As of yesterday, our office, with the assistance of the [LBPD], is investigating a double homicide,” Gramiccioni said. “The [LBPD] discovered the two deceased, and we’ve been investigating since the bodies were found.”

Police were led to the Sairs Avenue home after a missing persons report was filed for Cotejo-Munoz on March 24.

The large white home with four rental units is located on the corner of Sairs and Eastbourne avenues, just a block away from Long Branch High School.

According to the Long Branch tax assessor’s office, the owner of the home has an Eatontown mailing address.

Gramiccioni said anyone with information regarding the double homicide should contact Detective Todd Coleman of the Long Branch Police Department or Edwin Hennelly of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
