Mr. Kahrer, 82, of Shadow Lake Village, Red Bank, formerly of Jersey City, died March 6, 2013, in Naples, Fla. He was born on May 31, 1930, in Jersey City. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roseanna “May” (Leishman); three sons, Edward Jr. and his wife, Terri, of Hazlet, Michael and his wife, Lorraine, of Cranford, and Mark and his wife, Francine, of Hasbrouck Heights; five grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Eleanor Kahrer, Patricia (Leishman) Gualtieri, Anne Leishman and her husband, Vincent, and Margaret (Leishman) Dolan and her husband, William; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
