BORDENTOWN CITY — Since 2009, Angie’s Family Restaurant has been open for business at 15 Park St. — just around the corner from Farnsworth Avenue.
Juan Pelaez, owner and manager, worked in Bordentown for seven years prior to opening his own place. He said the community was friendly and open.
His restaurant serves American diner food. It is named after Mr. Pelaez’s 16-year-old daughter, Angie Pelaez. She also works as a waitress for the family business. Juan’s wife, Rosa Pelaez, also helps out.
Of his four other employees, Mr. Pelaez said, “While they are not family, they sure feel like it.”
The restaurant is inside a brick building with four designated parking spaces out front in addition to a score of street spots.
Upon entry into the establishment, Mr. Pelaez often greets guests with a smile. Once seated at one of 15 tables inside — or at the lunch counter — visitors are surrounded by the vivid landscape of a vibrant mural showcasing the good life.
The place also has a Spanish open air café ambiance.
Angie’s Family Restaurant is open daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and serves breakfast and lunch. Each day, the menu offers a variety of specials as well as traditional dishes.
The restaurant owner also is adamant on creating an ultra-friendly environment.
Breakfast dishes include bacon, eggs, pancakes and sausages with signature dishes such as its omelet. For lunch, the menu features hamburgers, hotdogs, cheese steaks, wraps.
Monday through Friday, Mr. Pelaez also runs a special for lunch, which includes a half sandwich and soup and fries for $5.95.
Mary Francis Smith, of Bordentown City, is a regular customer who comes in for Sunday breakfasts with her family.
Ms. Smith said, “My father would rather drive all the way from Ewing to this place than eat anywhere else. He loves it here so much.”
This spring, she brought her friend, Amy Telford, of Fieldsboro, to Angie’s Family Restaurant after a day of shopping.
Ms. Telford said, “This place was a truly great find for me because I have three boys, and I know I can bring them back here, and they would love it.”
She added, “The prices are so great.”
