Raritan Bay Medical Center has partnered with TeamHealth, one of the nation’s leading providers of emergency department staffing and management services. Under this arrangement, TeamHealth will manage a core group of community-based emergency physicians who will be dedicated to enhancing the level of emergency care at the medical center’s Old Bridge and Perth Amboy locations. TeamHealth is the first national multi-specialty group to receive recognition from the U.S. Department of Health & Senior Services as a certified Patient Safety Organization, and many of the departments the organization helps manage have earned national distinctions from leading patient experience and customer service organizations, including the Studer Group, Press Ganey and Malcolm Baldrige.

According to the most recent New Jersey Hospital Performance Report, the medical center scored in New Jersey’s top 10 percent in care for pneumonia and heart failure, and in Middlesex County, scored among the best in care for heart attack.Additionally the medical center, a New Jersey state-designated primary stroke center, received the 2012 American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines — Heart Failure Gold and American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines — Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Awards, recognizing the optimal care of heart failure and stroke patients respectively. In 2010, Raritan Bay Medical Center completed a $1 million expansion and renovation of its Perth Amboy emergency department. Both its Old Bridge and Perth Amboy emergency departments utilize electronic medical records to increase patient safety and cutting edge “see-through CPR” defibrillator equipment and “Thermosuit” technology, providing a complete resuscitation package for patients.
