CRANBURY: Community information

Cranbury Township
This historic community was built on Lenape trails that served as a main corridor between New York and Philadelphia. This made the community a popular resting point on the three-day journey between the cities.
Due to the historic nature of the community and the buildings, Cranbury was listed on both the state and national historic registrars in 1979 and 1980, respectively.
In keeping with the community’s support role for agriculture, more than 2,000 acres of farmland have been preserved as part of the state’s Farmland Preservation program.
The downtown area of the township still serves the surrounding farms and acts as the gathering place for residents.
