MANALAPAN — A resolution approving a person-to-person transfer of a Plenary Retail Consumption license, commonly referred to as a liquor license, was passed by the Manalapan Township Committee on April 10.

The application for the transfer was filed by AB Old Silver LLC, which is the new owner of the license. The license was transferred to AB Old Silver from GMSNJ Inc.

According to the resolution, the township clerk will hold the liquor license until AB Old Silver is ready to use it.

The Old Silver Tavern, Route 522, has been closed for several years, but it is not known if AB Old Silver Inc. is affiliated with that business.

The committee’s resolution does not list a location where the liquor license will be used.

According to L. Stephen Pastor of Hill Wallack, Yardley, Pa., the attorney representing AB Old Silver, the standard Plenary Retail Consumption license is issued by the municipality at the authority of the New Jersey Alcoholic Beverage Control Division and allows for consumption of alcoholic beverages on-site and the sale of covered packaged goods from the facility.

When a reporter asked Pastor for the names of the owners of the license and their future plans for the license, the attorney said his clients had asked him not to disclose too much information, for various reasons.

He said his clients would contact the News Transcript that day or the next, but as of press time the newspaper’s inquiry had not been answered.
