SPOTSWOOD — Sandy Henry had a difficult time finding a preschool for her son four years ago.

While researching online, the Spotswood resident found that many listings were incomplete or inaccurate; others did not include programs without websites or completely missed some other programs.

Four years later, Henry launched a comprehensive site, jellybeans4kids.com, to spare other New Jersey parents the headache of inaccurate and incomplete listings when looking for educational opportunities for their children.

“Jellybeans 4 Kids is a directory that has anything to do with education and children in New Jersey,” Henry said. “I hit every type of educational and child-related category.”

The site, which launched April 22 but is still taking community input, rounds out a list of educational programs and kids activities of all kinds, serving as a onestop shop for parents looking for programs for their children.

“My hope is that it will have the most complete list of anything that involves children’s education, and people will not have to go from one website to another website,” Henry said. “Since my main focus is education, I want to cover a large range of educational programs.”

Henry’s directory ranges from pre-kindergarten programs to college programs in New Jersey, with basic information such as an address, contact information and a website.

“It will be the listing, and that’s it,” Henry said. “There won’t be anything else that clutters up all the other websites.”

Henry said businesses targeting children’s activities and education can pay to place an ad on Jellybeans 4 Kids. Henry will give 20 percent of that revenue to a children’s charity.

“Charitable organizations can list on our website for free,” Henry said. “It’s our way of giving back to the community.”

Henry is still taking community input, including commissioned help to find listings, for Jellybeans 4 Kids.
