CRANBURY: Mail delivery service relocating

Service to customers should not change

CRANBURY — U.S. Post Office officials confirmed this week that mail delivery service will be relocating from the Cranbury Post Office on Main Street to Hightstown in August.
”It is more efficient for us,” Post Office spokesman Raymond Daiutolo said Wednesday. “It will greatly reduce the number of trucks (we need) and take advantage of the economies of scale.”
The move is part of an ongoing effort by the postal service to save money.
The organization has been closing locations and consolidating services at others for more than a year, Mr. Daiutolo said.
He also said that the move will not change services for customers and that they should not expect to see anything different once the switch is made.
Retail services at the Cranbury location will remain intact, and homeowners should not see a change in delivery service after the change is made.
The postal service is currently losing around $25 million each day, Mr. Daiutolo said.
