Curchin Group sponsors essay competition for nonprofits

RED BANK — The Curchin Group, an accounting firm based in Red Bank, will hold an essay contest open to all 501(c)(3) organizations to determine the two beneficiaries of the eighth annual Curchin Open, a nine-hole indoor miniature golf tournament for charity.

Nonprofits located in Monmouth and Ocean counties are eligible to enter by writing a 250- to 500-word essay detailing the mission of their organization and how the funds will be used for the greater good.

The Curchin Group’s partners will select the winners by June 30, based on the quality of the essay, the reputation of the organization and the proposed use of Curchin Open proceeds.

Local charities can visit curchin.com for details. Essays will be accepted until May 31.

Last year the Curchin Open raised more than $13,000 for two local charities, with a total of more than $90,000 raised over the past seven years.

The event will take place indoors at Curchin’s Red Bank office in early November. Player fees are $20 per person, which includes one round of mini golf, food and beverages.
