Program helps parents keep teen drivers safe

The Allstate Foundation and National Safety Council’s “Drive it Home” show will be held at 7 p.m. May 15 at the Middletown Arts Center, 36 Church St., Middletown. The show, featuring Second City Communications, is for parents of teenagers between 15-19 years old who are interested in learning how to keep their teenage drivers safe on the road.

Using sketch comedy and the real experiences of local parents, the show will offer life-saving tips and tools that parents can use to coach their teenage drivers. Parents are the strongest influence on their teenager’s driving experience. One of the most dangerous time periods in a person’s life is after getting a driver’s license. Drivers under the age of 18 are involved in approximately 900,000 crashes each year — an average of nearly 2,500 crashes per day.

Participants will have a chance to win a free Chevy Cruze and $250 in gas cards. For more information, contact Danny Jovic at 908-252-5164 or [email protected].
