A Cooper Street man reported an unknown man took two plants and other items with a total value of $20 from the curb at 12:36 p.m. May 7 and left in a tan vehicle. Patrols reported the flowers were returned later to the homeowner.
• Rhythm’s owner John Pettoni told Sgt. Ron Gazaway that in August and September 2009, he received two checks for $4,500 and $4,400 that he cashed and were returned due to insufficient funds. The case was screened with the county prosecutor’s office, which declined criminal charges and determined it was a civil case.
• Ice cream truck owner Zakaria Khouri from Saddle Brook was issued an ordinance summons on Knopf Street at 4:17 p.m. May 7 for not having a permit to sell. He was advised to leave town.
• A South Weiss Street woman came to headquarters at 9:53 a.m. to report a theft of checks cashed in the amount of $205 with six checks not cashed. She told police whom she suspected, and an investigation continues.
• An Adesa Auto Auction employee reported at 3:33 p.m. May 8 that someone removed the accelerator module from a Mercedes-Benz on the North Main Street property. Police confirmed the missing item, which has an estimated value of $500. An investigation is to continue.
• A North 9th Avenue woman reported her “stalker” for the past two years had walked past her home on the sidewalk at 8:45 p.m. May 8. She didn’t know the man, but a license plate number was given to police. Patrols checked the area and found no one around.
• At 12:40 p.m. May 9 a caller reported the theft of his black iPhone 5, valued at $200, from the counter of Dunkin’ Donuts on South Main Street. The phone was put into the national crime registry, was located by Paterson police and returned to the owner here.
• A Newark Avenue caller reported finding a sick bunny in their home at 5:14 p.m. May 9. Animal control was called and asked to contact the caller.
• A man reported at headquarters at 6:36 p.m. May 9 that he had lost his wallet Sunday, May 5, in the area of South Main Street and Roosevelt Avenue. The wallet had his Guatemala ID, driver’s license, health insurance cards and debit card.
• Police escorted about 20 reportedly noisy people off the Weston School basketball courts a few minutes past midnight May 10.
• A Boesel Avenue woman called police at 3:33 p.m. May 10 to say people were removing windows from a house on the street. Patrols said the previous owner was bought out and doesn’t own the home. Parties left prior to officer’s arrival.
• One vehicle rolled over at South Main and Wilhousky streets at 5:44 p.m. May 10 after it was cut off by another vehicle, police said. Police, fire and rescuers responded. All occupants got out of the vehicle, but two injured people were taken to Somerset Medical Center.
• A Flemington woman came to headquarters at 8:49 a.m. May 11 to report losing her debit card in the Reading Cinema in town, and it was fraudulently used at Walmart in Manville and Kohl’s in Hillsborough for $532.86 and $33.29 in purchases, police said. The value of the card was put at $2.
• Heather Cosgrove reported at 10 a.m. that sometime early in the morning, a bear came into her yard on North 7th Avenue, and she videotaped it. Patrols confirmed that at 4:45 a.m., the film shows a bear climbing over the fence and heading toward the railroad tracks DEP was contacted. Nixle emergency messages were sent out to residents.
• Adesa Auto Auction security reported two 2010 silver Mercedes-Benzes stolen within an hour May 12 — one at 11 p.m. taken from the outside parking lot between 11 a.m. May 11 and 10:25 p.m. that night. There were no plates on the vehicle. About 45 minutes later, security said a second 2010 silver Mercedes Benz with no plates had been taken in the same time frame. The autos were entered in the national crime computer, and county alarms were issued.
