WEST AMWELL: ‘Amwell West, Country at Its Best’ fair set

Event will be held at the Municipal Complex, 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road

WEST AMWELL — On May 18, from 4-9 p.m., “Amwell West, Country at Its Best” — the West Amwell Country Fair — will be held at the Municipal Complex, 150 Rocktown-Lambertville Road.
New to the fair this year will be a bee presentation and karaoke. There will be games such as donut eating and egg throwing, several animal exhibits and presentations, a plant presentation followed with some free garden plants, plus the ever popular cake walks and hand cranked ice-cream making.
Ongoing throughout the day will be tractor and wagon rides, horseshoe pitching, pony rides, lazar pitching, sling nine, face painting, and scouting activities.
The Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad will be on hand to demonstrate some of its equipment.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., there will be a closing ceremony, followed by a bonfire and medley of patriotic music.
As with fairs in the past, there will be ongoing music by DJ, Mike Haldeman.
There will be lots of food available from the South Hunterdon FFA Alumni, the West Amwell Fire Company Auxiliary, and Bill & Bernie’s reubens.
Township Committee members are donating free birch beer.
The fair also will provide “a relaxing time to enjoy fellowship with old friends and to meet new neighbors,” according to Betty Jane Hunt, one of the organizers.
