Lambertville
— Lambertville police were sent to the Inn of the Hawke early Friday morning, May 17, because of smoke detector activation. When the officers arrived, at 3 a.m., they discovered smoke and flames coming from a basement door.
As officers, Detective Michael Miloszar and Officer Joseph Weber, along with the owner of the business, evacuated the guests of the inn, the Lambertville Fire Department quickly arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire.
No injuries were reported and the fire is being investigated as suspicious at this time. Detectives from the Hunterdon County prosecutor’s office are assisting with the investigation.
Officers from the West Amwell Township Police Department and emergency personnel from the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad, West Amwell Township Fire Department, New Hope Fire Department, Raritan Township Fire Department, and Stockton Fire Company all assisted with this incident.
— A business located at the Canal Studios, 243 N. Union St., reported a burglary and theft from the office suite on May 17. Employees reported finding two laptop computers and a Bose stereo system stolen from the business when they arrived for work.
The burglary is believed to have occurred late Thursday night or early Friday morning. Officer Anthony Memolo is investigating.
