To the editor:
I would like it for all the residents of Manville to take a deep breath, and for a moment, take a serious look into our current elected mayor, and some of the council members who have been charged with looking after Manville’s resident’s best interests.
Mayor Corradino has portrayed the sort of arrogance and dictatorship qualities that our country has always frowned upon in the world. At council meetings, Mayor Corradino makes it a habit of forcibly talking down to residents that ask the hard questions, and most always attempts to side step these issues, or even worse, dismisses residents who expect an answer to important matters that affect us all, infringing on a citizen’s right to free speech.
And when it comes to controlling the most important aspect of all in attempting to keep taxes level while the economy recovers, he and his fellow Democrats on the council have increased our taxes every year. And most recently he has reverted back to his past actions and now is starting to take bonds out so that Manville’s future generations can suffer with even higher taxes than we have.
At this past Monday’s council meeting, I witnessed one of the worst decisions ever made without an ounce of care or respect for the law when Mrs. Stephanie Cornelson was appointed to be the recreation director.
Last year at an incident on Manville School grounds that involved illegal drinking on our children’s fields, Mrs. Cornelson, a member of the Manville school board, was present and responsible for the event as head of the Youth Alliance.
When questioned about his decision to hire Mrs. Cornelson for the new recreation director’s job, the mayor stated that she was awarded the job because of her hard work, and even stated that Mrs. Cornelson was the person responsible for turning in the former recreation director as a culprit.
What the mayor has seemed to forget is that Mrs. Cornelson waited hours before alerting any authority, conveniently after the field was cleaned up. As the official reports have stated, she witnessed a crime and decided to call the school superintendent, not the police. To top it off, if it wasn’t for a few truthful and determined residents for bringing this to the public eye, the mayor would have gotten away with covering up the whole incident.
Last, but not least, are the current elected Democratic councilmen. At a council meeting last month, they were all asked questions about the budget and had no legitimate answers. The ones that ran for office promising you the taxpayer that they had vast economic knowledge couldn’t even tell the public what percent taxes were going up.
The current elected Democrats on our Council are puppets for the mayor, or shall I say bobblehead dolls, always nodding, ever afraid to think for themselves with the taxpayers’ best interest first.
But what can you expect? The Manville Democrats are nothing more than Corzine tax-and-spend Democrats, running free with your and my tax money. And this mayor and the Democratic-led Council should not be trusted with anything. Ask the Somerset County Democrats about that one.
