The Crosswicks Friends Meeting Craft Night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, at the First Day School, located on the grounds of the Meeting House in Crosswicks. The Chesterfield Township Elementary School Board of Education will have two seats open starting January.
Any Chesterfield township residents interested in being on the ballot for one of these positions must be a resident of Chesterfield Township for one year and a registered voter in Burlington County.
The nominating petitions for the two open positions are available through a link on the school website’s front page. Nominating petitions are due to the county by June 4 at 4 p.m.
The school election is Nov. 5.

The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association (CDCWA) announces the continuation of a well-water testing initiative within the Crosswicks- Doctors Creek Watershed.
This is an opportunity for local residents to learn about the safety of their well water. The initiative is being funded, in part, by a grant from The Watershed Institute.
Through this initiative, the CDCWA is able to offer the test to residents of the watershed for $95. The regular price of this test is $225.
All water samples will be analyzed by a certified New Jersey laboratory and all who participate in the program will receive a one-year membership to the CDCWA and also a free CDCWA T-shirt.
This offer is time limited and is good for the first 43 respondents or until Oct. 31, whichever occurs first. The 2013 Chesterfield Township Against Substance Abuse Summer Program will be open to all Chesterfield Township children entering the first-grade to students completing the sixth-grade.
The program will be held at the school from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will run the weeks of July 9 to Aug. 1.
Students entering kindergarten in September are not permitted.
The goal of the program is to provide the children of Chesterfield with positive activities that reinforce positive decision making skills needed in today’s world.
The hope is that as they grow older, and decisions become much harder, they will be able to turn away from those that limit their growth as productive members of the community and society.
It will also be a great place to make new friends, practice independence and develop self-confidence. The program provides typical summer-time recreational activities such as sports and games, arts and crafts, board games and a few special things thrown in for good measure.
Registration forms are due, along with payment by May 10.
Kids ages 14 to 16 may apply to become Junior Counselors.
Positions will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Also student volunteers currently in grades 7 and 8 and under age 14 are encouraged to serve as volunteers in the program.
Adult volunteers are always needed.

The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is giving Chesterfield Township residents a chance to win a tree.
Each month the Environmental Commission is featuring a particular species of tree and asking the Chesterfield residents to take pictures of the featured tree. At the monthly meeting the Environmental Commission will judge which picture is best.
The winner will be contacted by email and will win a new tree to plant. Chesterfield Township residents who submit a picture of a Dogwood tree this month of May to Chesterfield Township website will have an opportunity to win a tree. Each month a different tree will be featured.

The Chesterfield Township Keen Agers meeting will be held at noon, Wednesday, May 8, at the Chesterfield Firehouse.Any Chesterfield resident 55 and over is welcome to attend. Keen Agers meetings are held two times a month on the second and fourth Wednesdays. Meetings are held during the months of January through June and September through December. The Chesterfield Township Emergency Squad is seeking new volunteer members to join the organization. The squad has been providing emergency services to residents of Chesterfield and surrounding towns since 1988 and this year is celebrating its 25th year of service. It is looking for enthusiastic men and women to join the ranks of the squad to help assist neighbors in need of medical help. Consider joining the squad. The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is participating in a recycling program for inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and cell phones. These items will be recycled into usable products. The commission receives credits for each cartridge and cell phone and will use the credits toward reforestation, protection of natural resources and ecological education for residents. Collection boxes are located at the Crosswicks Library, Chesterfield Township Municipal Office and Chesterfield General Store.
