Hillsborough Middle School on Triangle Road will host the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s regional public hearing on the proposed Williams natural gas company pipeline expansion project at on Thursday, June 13, at 7 p.m.
The pipeline expansion would include two projects in New Jersey: the “Skillman Loop” and the “Pleasant Run Loop.”
The “Skillman Loop” would stretch through 6.36 miles of Somerset and Mercer County, including the Princeton Ridge.
The proposed project would cut through Montgomery Township’s portion of the Sourland Mountains. The Sourland Planning Council has issued concerns about the project’s negative effects on the environment and community.
The “Pleasant Run Loop” would stretch 6.83 miles through Somerset and Hunterdon County.
The expansion would also stretch into Pennsylvania.
Transco will present an overview of the project before the meeting at 6 p.m. Public questions regarding the expansion project can be submitted until June 24.
