NJAHU Names Stephen Honig as 2013 Winner of the Lou Mattei Award
WEST WINDSOR – May 14, 2013 – Stephen Honig is the 2013 recipient of the most prestigious award handed out by the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters (NJAHU).
The NJAHU recognized Honig’s achievements and ongoing commitment to the profession, naming him the recipient of the 2013 Louis G. Mattei Achievement Award.
Honig was presented with the 20th-annual award this morning at the NJAHU’s annual conference in Atlantic City, flanked by previous winners who honored him for “tireless service, sacrifice and dedication.”
In accepting the award, Honig said, he was honored to be part of such a prestigious, giving group of professionals that has helped mold the NJAHU into a well-known voice of the health insurance industry. “I look forward to continuing to help unfold answers as we move into the future of health care reform,” he said.
As the association’s Education Chair, Honig is one of the most active members of the NJAHU. He organizes and teaches courses around the state for health insurance brokers seeking new licenses and staying updated on ongoing changes in health insurance regulations. On the national level, Honig teaches wellness certification classes.
“Stephen is one of those terrific people who have been a consistent resource for the NJAHU,” said NJAHU President Matt Roy. “He is smart, hard working and has such an incredible knowledge of the intricacies of health insurance. In this era of constant change in the market, Stephen is a very special resource for NJAHU members.”
An active member of NJAHU since 2004, he twice served as President of the Central New Jersey Chapter of the NJAHU.
Honig is president of O.C.A. Benefit Services of Mercerville, a third-party administrator of employee benefits. Known as a “Employee Benefits Delivery Organization,” the company provides employers, agents, brokers, and participants with efficient and effective benefit packages.
