Community, Kimball and Monmouth Medical Centers, Barnabas Health facilities, and the American Cancer Society are seeking volunteers to participate in a historic, nationwide Cancer Prevention Study (CPS-3) to help researchers better understand the genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that cause or prevent cancer. Volunteer recruitment sessions will be held on June 11, 12 and 13.
The CPS-3 is a grassroots effort developed by the American Cancer Society to support cancer research by enrolling 300,000 adults from various racial and ethnic backgrounds from across the United States. By enrolling in the study at Community, Kimball or Monmouth Medical Center, the residents of Ocean and Monmouth counties have a chance to participate in lifesaving cancer research. The study is open to men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer. To enroll, individuals provide a waist measurement, give a small blood sample and complete a comprehensive survey online or at the enrollment site. Over the course of the study, participants will be asked to fill out follow-up surveys every few years.
