Tamas Ormosi, director of Hillsborough’s social services, has been laid off by Hillsborough Township, effective June 28. The announcement was made at the Township Committee meeting on May 28.
Township Administrator Anthony Ferrera said Mr. Ormosi was let go for economic and efficiency reasons. He served as the director of social services since 2006.
Rich Resavy, the director of parks and recreation, will take over Mr. Ormosi’s duties. Mr. Resavy will receive an $8,000 salary increase, bringing his total to $98,746 starting July 1.
Mr. Ormosi’s responsibilities included overseeing the Hillsborough food pantry, senior citizen programs and the holiday toy drives.
Mr. Ferrera said the parks and recreation department was already involved with many of the social services programs before the consolidation. Mr. Ferrera said the township does not foresee the consolidation impacting social programs.
No other social services employees have been affected by the consolidation, he said. All employees previously under Mr. Ormosi will now report to Mr. Resavy.
Mr. Ormosi, who is also the Republican mayor of South Bound Brook, received an annual salary of $56,868 as director.
