Mrs. Heims, 75, of Monroe, formerly of Sayreville, died May 23, 2013, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement in 1995, she was employed for 10 years as a ward clerk at Roosevelt Hospital, Edison. She served as a member of the Sayreville Democratic Organization. She was predeceased by a brother, Woodrow Haussermann Jr., and by her longtime companion, Robert Colfer. Surviving are four children and their spouses, Holly and Peter Pitti of Monroe, Jamie and Jake Kowalski of Wind Gap, Pa., Woody and Maryjane Heims of Missouri City, Texas, and Paul J. Heims, and his partner, Francisco Perez, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a sister, June Shipman of Virginia; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Arrangements were by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville. Cremation was private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helmetta Animal Shelter, 58 Main St., Helmetta, NJ 08828.
