RED BANK — Children of all ages are invited to an ice cream social at the Red Bank Public Library to kick off the summer on June 15 from noon to 1 p.m. Participants can build their own sundae, play games and sign up for the “Dig Into Reading” summer reading club. Children ages 3-16 can join the Summer Reading Club at the library and win prizes for every 10 books, and enjoy fun activities throughout the summer. The ice cream social is free, and registration is not required.
Timber, a certified therapy dog, visits the library twice a month to sit with and listen to hesitant readers and dog lovers too. Children age 5 and over can register for a free 15-minute Timber Time session on the first and third Wednesday of each month between 4 and 5 p.m.
Children ages 5 and older are invited to a Wii Just Dance Party on June 17 from 4 to 5 p.m. Laugh, play, have fun and enjoy board games, crafts and some snacks too. To register for any of these free children’s programs, visit or call the Children’s Room at 732-842-0690, ext. 115.
The Children’s Room also offers free drop-in story time for young children with a caregiver on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Come to the library for some quick stories, musical activities and a craft. Spanish storytimes for young children with a caregiver are offered on the third Tuesday of the month at 11 a.m. Registration is not required for story times.
Teen Summer Reading begins on June 15. Teens and preteens in grades 6-12 are invited to sign up to read books and win great prizes. For more information, contact Stephanie at [email protected].
The Young Adult Anime Club for teens and preteens in grades 6-12 meets the first Saturday of each month from 3 to 4:30 p.m. On June 1, meet others who like anime, watch some episodes together, and join in on the fun. The Young Adult Book Club for teens and young adults in grades 6-12 meets the first Monday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m. The group will discuss “Looking for Alaska” by John Green on June 3.
