 MONROE — Township Engineer Ernest Feist has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault by auto following a Tuesday night car crash that injured three people, according to police.
   According to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Thursday evening, Mr. Feist, 54, was charged at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he is being treated for injuries received during the crash on Hoffman Station Road Tuesday night.
   Police were sent to the scene of the three-car accident near the Hoffman Road intersection around 5:04 p.m. Tuesday evening.
   According to police, Mr. Feist was traveling west on Hoffman Station Road in a 2012 Mercedes CLS when he crossed the double yellow line and struck an oncoming 2004 Toyota Highlander driven by a 57-year-old woman from Manalapan.
   Mr. Feist’s vehicle then struck a 2004 Mazda driven by a 31-year-old woman, also from Manalapan, police said.
   The driver of the Highlander was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
   The driver of the Mazda was taken to Centrastate Hospital in Freehold where she was treated for her injuries and released, according to police.
   A passenger in Mr. Feist’s vehicle, identified as a 34-year-old male from Effort, Pennsylvania, was transported to Princeton University Medical Center at Plainsboro and was listed in stable condition.
   Police are still investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Michael Daniewicz of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4018.
   Mr. Feist is the engineer for Monroe Township and owns Feist Engineering Inc.
   The civil and municipal engineering firm was founded in 1992, according to Mr. Feist’s LinkedIn profile.
