CHAPTER A
   You are invited to our upcoming “Wedding Belles” event scheduled for Friday afternoon, June 28, in the Senior Activity Room. Try to identify other club members in their wedding pictures. Prizes and wedding cake refreshments.
   After today, note that our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 2, due to the Independence Day holiday. A representative from the Hillsborough Plice Department will discuss scams against seniors.
   Please remember to bring an item for the food bank to this meeting.
   Meetings start at 12:30 p.m. all Hillsborough seniors age 60-plus are invited. Dues are $5 a year and new members may join at any meeting. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., allowing time to review upcoming events. Refreshments are served after the meeting.
   Members may at any time contribute kitchen supplies — coffee, decaf, napkins, plastic sandwich bags, etc. Dues are $5 a year.We have been encouraged by the township to offer suggestions on how the Senior Room can be used more.    Sat., July 13 — Annual anniversary party celebration at Mary, Mother of God Church on South Triangle Road, starting at 11:30 a.m. Appetizers, dinner, music, dancing, prizes. Member cost is $25, refunded at event. Guest cost is $35, non-refundable.
   Wed., July 17 — “Marriage Go Round,” a comedy at the Rainbow Theater in Lancaster, Pa. Departure from Kohl’s parking lot at 8:45 a.m. Cost is $85.
   Fri., Aug. 4 — Trip to Monmouth Race Track and dinner at (our favorite!!) Basile’s Restaurant in Freehold. Departure from Kohl’s parking lot at 11 a.m. Cost is $74.
   Sun., Aug. 18 — Annual Chapter A picnic at the Falcon Club on Falcon Road. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, sweet corn, salads and watermelon by Elmer’s Catering. Games and prizes! Noon to 4 p.m. Cost is $15, refunded at event.
   Our next trip to the Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City is Monday, July 1. The trip is open to members and non-members (over 21) for $30, with $25 returned. Departs at 9 a.m. from Kohl’s lot and returns at about 7:30 p.m. Call Jo at 908-359-6418 for reservations. Pay on bus.

CHAPTER B
   Today, June 6, our annual anniversary luncheon will be held at Mary, Mother of God Church. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. No one will be admitted prior to that time. Tickets needed to be purchased at the May meeting.
      Regular meetings begin at 12:30 p.m. Registration for trips begins at 11 a.m. The next meeting at the Municipal Building will be held on July 11.
   New prize: Members wearing their name badges will be eligible for a drawing at the end of the meeting for a special gift. Be sure to wear your badge!

   A five-day trip to Rocking Horse Ranch in New York State is planned for June 10-14. If you have purchased a ticket, you should meet in the Lowe’s parking lot at 12:45 p.m.
   A day trip to the Culinary Institute of America is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2. The cost is $85, which includes a tour of the Institute, an Italian dinner and a tour of the nearby Vanderbilt Home Museum, located in the Hyde Park, N.Y., area.
   A trip to a Somerset Patriots baseball game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 23. More information to follow.
   The annual picnic will be held Aug. 8. You must buy tickets no later than the July 11 meeting.
   A day trip to Monmouth Raceway is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 23. The cost is $70, which includes the entrance fee, a program with grandstand seating and dinner at 5:30 p.m. at Basile’s Restaurant in Freehold. You may purchase a ticket beginning at the July meeting on a first-come, first-serve basis.
   A trip to Cooperstown, N.Y., is scheduled for Sept. 24-26. This trip includes transportation, three days and two nights’ lodging, breakfasts, two dinners and tours of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Farmers’ Museum, Fenimore Museum of Art, Ommegang Brewery and Fly Creek Cider Mill. The cost is $317. Payments are due at the July and August meetings.
   On the community calendar:
   St. Mary’s Church on Brooks Boulevard has canceled dinners until further notice, as renovations are in progress.The township’s Mr. Fix-It program, run by the Social Services Department, will arrange minor home repairs on Wednesday mornings between 8 and 11 for Hillsborough seniors 60 and older.    New: Car service to drive you in your car to or from an event or appointment (for a fee). Responsible, reliable, background-checked drivers. Call ahead or at the last minute. 908-547-0089.
   New: A Hillsborough resident has started “ We Care Senior Care,” specializing in non-medical senior assistance, for a fee. Available for errands, cooking, hair care by professional hairdresser, light house-keeping, laundry. For cost and other information, call 908-359-2192 or 908-963-0821.
   Free exercise programs are available for all Hillsborough seniors and are designed for all levels of fitness.
   In the municipal building’s all-purpose room (where clubs A and B meet), there are sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m., and 12:30 and 2 p.m. Stretching and low-impact dancing are included.
   Seniors can “Flex, Stretch, and Tone with Rose” at the Hillsborough Senior Wellness Center, 339 South Branch Road (near the YMCA) at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call 908-369-8700 for details.

HILLSBOROUGH SENIOR CENTER
   The wellness center at 339 South Branch Road is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Its phone is 908-369-8700.
   Transportation is available.
   Enjoy lunch for a suggested donation of $1.50 or more. (Price for guests under 60: $5.35). Call 908-369-8700 before 10:30 a.m. the day before to make a lunch reservation.
   Blood pressure screening is held the third Tuesday of the month at 10:30 a.m. Caram (East Indian game similar to billiards) and other games are played every Thursday. Cards can be played every day. You can flex, stretch and tone with Rose on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

   Mon., June 17 — Jeannette Grimes of the American Diabetes Association leads a session at the Manville Senior Center for those at high risk for diabetes. The goal is to raise awareness of diabetic neuropathy and for participants to be able to identify symptoms associated with nerve damage.)
   Wed., June 19 — “The Benefits of Fruits and Vegetables” by Nancy Rosa-Mejias of Family and Community Health Sciences, Rutgers Cooperative Extension.
   Fri., June 21 — Watercolors workshop for all levels of artistic abilities, including beginners, led by Barbara Gerson, Art 4 All School, 10:30 a.m.
   Mon., June 24 — Internet safety for seniors.
   June 25 — Theme party: “The History of Jazz: The Early Years” with Gordon James, jazz performer, composer, arranger, producer and recording artist, 10:30 a.m.
