New Jersey State Librarian Mary Chute honored four New Jersey libraries for conducting outstanding early literacy programs on behalf of their youngest library users and their families during a breakfast at the New Jersey Library Association Annual Conference, on June 5.
“As State Librarian, I am extremely pleased to recognize our Best Practices in Early Literacy Award winners,” said Chute. “I encourage all New Jersey libraries to continue their efforts to provide children and their families with the opportunities to develop and expand their reading skills, thereby helping them on their path to future academic achievement.”
Winning libraries were:
Alfred H. Baumann Public Library, West Paterson, for the Baby Tales Lapsit Program.
Moorestown Public Library for the Summer Reading is for Everyone! Program.
Parsippany-Troy Hills Public Library Lake Hiawatha Branch for the Sensory Storytime Program.
Princeton Public Library for the Library in a Box Program.
Each library received a $500 award presented by Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Consultant for the NJ State Library.
