Outdoor retailer L.L. Bean has announced the expansion of its retail presence into the Freehold market. The new 25,000- square-foot store is scheduled to open in mid-September and will be located in the space previously occupied by the Borders bookstore in the Freehold Raceway Mall, Freehold Township. According to a press release, the store will employ about 100 people and will feature two levels showcasing a variety of casual apparel, footwear and outdoor gear and apparel, including hiking, fly-fishing, kayaking and camping products.
Manalapan-area HomeGoods shoppers will have the opportunity to support cancer care and research while shopping at the off-price home fashions retailer.
Through June 30, more than 275 Home- Goods stores nationwide will participate in the 12th annual HomeGoods “Helps Families Fight Cancer” campaign benefiting the Jimmy Fund, which supports the lifesaving mission of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Mass.
HomeGoods customers who would like to participate can make a contribution at the register with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Dana-Farber.
Customers will also have the opportunity to purchase a reusable shopping bag for 99 cents featuring artwork by Jimmy Fund clinic pediatric patient Phoebe Davis and her brother, Caleb. HomeGoods will contribute 50 cents to the Jimmy Fund for each bag purchased.
HomeGoods’ Manalapan store is in the Epicentre shopping center on Route 9 south at Symmes Drive.
A Cut For a Cause event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. June 23 at The Salon at Manalapan by Lawrence Gerard, 167 Route 33, Manalapan. The salon will team up with Justin’s Barbershop to raise money for iCan Bike, a summer program that helps disabled individuals learn to ride a standard twowheel bike. The camp, which is held at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, is made possible only through donations and volunteers. CentraState Medical Center is hosting a farmers market from July 10 to Aug. 28 at the Star and Barry Tobias Ambulatory Campus, 901 W. Main St., Freehold Township. The market will feature local fruit, vegetables, honey, baked goods and more. The farmers market will be open every Wednesday (weather permitting) from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participating farms include From the Garden, Rifkin Farms, The Farm, Clayton Farms, Kaufman Farms, Shangri La Farm and Artisserie Bakery.
The Lakewood Development Corporation is offering the public a free small business seminar, “Doing Business With the Government: How to Get Your Foot in the Door,” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19 in the Lakewood municipal building.
