HILLSBOROUGH: Police report three incidents of spray-paint graffiti

Incidents happened May 16-23; two were at schools

   Hillsborough Township police reported three incidents of vandalism involving graffiti from May 16 to 23.
   On May 16 after school administrators reported a structure on the property was spray painted with graffiti. The incident is suspected to have occurred overnight.
   A school wall was spray painted with graffiti on May 22. The incident is suspected to have occurred overnight.
   On May 23, a phone utility box was spray painted with graffiti on Brooks Boulevard.
   • A 20-year-old Hillsborough man was charged May 25 with a township summons for underage possession of alcohol by Hillsborough police working a special detail.
   Plain-clothes officers assigned to the Cops in Shops program said they saw township resident Brian Valverde come out of the Shoppers’ Liquor store at 390 Route 206 at 8:49 p.m.
   He was given a summons and released pending a municipal court date.
   Cops in Shops is funded by a state grant through the N.J. Division of Alcohol Beverage Control. Officers are placed in or near liquor stores, or may pose as a store employee. They monitor the sale of alcohol to minors and make arrests, when necessary. Store owners are also educated on how to properly check Ids and recognize fake ones.
   • Jonathon Bosques, 25, of Montgomery, was arrested for trying to shoplift on May 11. Police said Mr. Bosques tried to leave a Route 206 business with items totaling $153.40. Mr. Bosques was taken into custody and released pending a court appearance.
   • Gavin Mazzaglia, 22, of Hillsborough was arrested on May 12 for driving under the influence. Mr. Mazzaglia was pulled over on Hamilton Road. His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.12 percent, police said. Mr. Mazzaglia was also charged with careless driving and failure to yield right-of-way at an intersection.
   • On May 12 a township resident reported his bike, valued at $100, was stolen after leaving it unattended on the side of Roycefield Road.
   • A township resident reported various items were stolen from his unlocked vehicle on May 14. The value of the missing items was $75.
   • A woman reported her kayak and paddle were stolen on May 17 while left unattended on the side of River Road. The items are valued at $550.
   • An Auten Road resident reported items stolen from his porch on June 1. The items are valued at $44.
