Veggies and fruits will be on sale on summer Fridays
For the third year, a farmers market will be a weekly event in Manville, beginning June 28.
Friday afternoons until Sept. 27, the market will bring fresh fruits and vegetables to the town. The market will be held rain or shine from 1 to 6 p.m. on the Main Street sidewalks between Rosalie and North Orchard streets.
”It has been a huge success, and people look forward to it every year, and this should be a good season with all the rain,” said Oscar Gonzalez of the Resource Committee of the Manville Business and Professional Association, which worked to bring the market back to town.
Hillsborough Norz Farm is the first to sign on. It and other farmers will bring locally grown vegetables and fruits, baked goods, eggs and maybe even some meats. Last year, Norz Farm also sold golden zucchini, blackberries and all types of lettuce, kale and varieties of greens for salads.
Anyone who would like to sell at the market may call Mr. Gonzalez at 908-722-0121.
Mr. Gonzalez said the organization recently elected new officers for the upcoming year. They include President John Zalewski of Fucillo and Warren, Vice President Dean Shephard of Shephard Investments, secretary Gina Palumbo of Fulton Bank and treasurers Lynn Cotty and Chris Janeczek.
Anyone who would like to join the Manville Business and Professional Association can call Mr. Zalewski at 908-725-1763.
