HAMILTON — Runners and walkers are encouraged to take their mark for the start of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton Foundation’s 22nd annual Strides for Stroke 5K Run/2K Walk Thursday, July 11.
Sponsored by Sean’s Landscaping, the race is an important source of fundraising for the award-winning stroke program at RWJ Hamilton.
Designated by the state of New Jersey as a Primary Stroke Center, and nationally certified by the Joint Commission, RWJ Hamilton’s Stroke Program has a 24/7 multidisciplinary team dedicated to meeting the highest standards for stroke care.
Last year’s race raised over $20,000 and registered more than 400 runners and walkers from across the tri-state area, as well as California, Delaware and Michigan.
Strides for Stroke is a USA Track & Field-certified course on a traffic-free road and through Veteran’s Park. Perfect for families, the 2K walk starts at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by the 5K run at 7:30 p.m.
Music, pizza and refreshments are provided for all registered participants. Commemorative t-shirts are available to pre-registrants through June 30, and while supplies last after that date. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three overall men and women 5K runners, and medals will be awarded to top three men and women in each age category.
Teams are encouraged for both the walk and the run. Teams compete for fastest team, most finishers and most spirit. For more information, to register or sponsor friends online visit www.stridesforstroke.kintera.org.
