The Viking Athletic Club held its annual senior banquet June 5.
SBHS seniors participating in sports, during the last four years, amassed a combined record of 1,006-465-30, according to officials.
”Your overall four year accomplishments have raised the bar higher than any other athletic class in (SBHS) history,” Athletic Director Elaine McGrath said. “You have pushed yourself to reach for the stars.”
According to the school, the class of 2013 attained the following distinctions during the last four years; 40 GMC team championships, 323 GMC all divisions selections, 247 All GMC first team selections, 89 All State Performers, 24 GMC divisional championships, 44 GMC Individual champions, 15 Home News Tribune players of the year, eight District Champions, 18 Central Jersey NJSIAA State Champions, four NJCDCA State Championships, four NJ State Dance Championships, two Cheer Tech Island Championships, nine Division 1 or 2 Scholarship signings and one athlete scored 1,000 points during their career.
”The success of our athletic program transcends beyond the fields and courts of competition and has embraced the same hunger for excellence in the classroom which has been so evident by how many of you have been recognized with all-GMC academic certificates through your four years,” Ms. McGrath said.
Also attending the celebration were; Superintendent Dr. Gary McCartney, SBHS Principal Peter Varela and Board of Education members Daniel Boyle, Patrick Del Piano, Devan Patel and Arthur Robinson.
