MANVILLE: Hillsborough Dukes open football, cheer programs to Manville residents

Dukes will offer special-needs levels, too

The Hillsborough Dukes Pop Warner football and cheer program is now open to Manville residents with free registration through Aug. 5. Registration is available on line at www.hillsboroughdukes.com.
The Dukes have also established a Challenger Division for special-needs children.
”Pop Warner’s overall goals are to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. By establishing a Challenger Division, we are providing that opportunity for everyone to participate in the great game of football and cheer,” the Dukes said in a press release. “Both Challenger cheer and football programs are non-competitive and the football games are modeled after non-contact Pop Warner flag games.”
The organization noted the program will teach working within a team to reach goals, in addition to getting exercise and learning proper techniques from August through October. The division teams will play in eight games against Challenger Division teams from nearby communities.
The Dukes are launching their 46th year.
