   The Chesterfield Township Historical Society Museum will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 23, at the Chesterfield Township Historical Society Museum on Ward Avenue in Crosswicks.
   This event is a way to learn about the history of the community.

   Registration for the Crosswicks Library summer reading program will begin Monday, June 24.
   ”Dig Into Reading” is an opportunity for Chesterfield Township Elementary School students to maintain and develop reading skills throughout the summer. All children are welcome to participate in this program.
   Children will borrow and read library books from the library and present reports to volunteer listeners. The volunteers will keep track of the child’s progress in a journal and on a graph chart at the library.
   After completion of the program, the children attend a small social to celebrate their reading accomplishments. Reporting times are Monday 5:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday 5:30 to 7 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

   The Crosswicks Community Association annual Croquet Classic will be held noon to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 13, at the Crosswicks Community House Village Green, 480 Main St.
   No prior experience necessary to play. There will be three courses, each with six people participating,

   The 2013 Chesterfield Township Against Substance Abuse Summer Program will be open to all Chesterfield Township children entering the first grade to students completing the sixth grade.
   The program will be held at the school from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays the weeks of July 9 and Aug. 1.
   Students entering kindergarten in September are not permitted.
   The goal of the program is to provide the children of Chesterfield with positive activities that reinforce positive decision-making skills. The program also will be a great place to make new friends, practice independence and develop self-confidence. The program provides typical summertime recreational activities such as sports and games and arts and crafts.
   Kids ages 14-16 may apply to become junior counselors. Positions will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students in grades seven and eight and under age 14 are encouraged to serve as volunteers in the program. Adult volunteers are always needed.

   The Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed Association announces the continuation of a well-water testing initiative within the Crosswicks-Doctors Creek Watershed.
   This is an opportunity for local residents to learn about the safety of their well water. The initiative is being funded, in part, by a grant from The Watershed Institute.
   Through this initiative, the association is able to offer the test to residents of the watershed for $95. The regular price of this test is $225.
   All water samples will be analyzed by a certified New Jersey laboratory, and all who participate in the program will receive a one-year membership to the association and a free association T-shirt.
   This offer is limited to the first 43 respondents or until Oct. 31, whichever occurs first.    The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is giving Chesterfield Township residents a chance to win a tree.
   Each month, the commission is featuring a particular species of tree and asking residents to take pictures of the featured tree. At the monthly meeting, the commission will judge which picture is best.

   The Chesterfield Township Emergency Squad is seeking new volunteer members to join the organization.
   The squad has been providing emergency services to residents of Chesterfield and surrounding towns since 1988 and is celebrating 25 years of service this year.

   The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is participating in a recycling program for inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and cell phones.
   These items will be recycled into usable products. The commission receives credits for each cartridge and cell phone and will use the credits toward reforestation, protection of natural resources and ecological education for residents.
   Collection boxes are located at the Crosswicks Library, Chesterfield Township Municipal Office and Chesterfield General Store.
