A section of Carter Road, between Route 206 and Van Kirk Road, will be closed to traffic while it is being resurfaced beginning Monday, June 24, according to Municipal Manager Richard Krawczun.
Mr. Krawczun told Township Council the road will be closed to all but local traffic Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. It will take about 10 working days to complete the project, which calls for removing the top layer of asphalt and applying another coat.
The project is being carried out by the Mercer County Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. Carter Road is maintained by Mercer County.
Emergency access for fire trucks, police cars and ambulances will be permitted while the road is closed. Residents also will be able to use Carter Road while the work is under way.
A detour will be set up for motorists who would have used Carter Road.
They will be directed south on Route 206 to Cold Soil Road, where they may make a right turn onto Cold Soil Road. They will follow Cold Soil Road to Van Kirk Road. At the end of Van Kirk Road, they may turn left to continue on Carter Road.
For motorists who would have driven on Carter Road to Route 206, the detour will take them in reverse — turning right onto Van Kirk Road, which ends at Cold Soil Road and then onto Route 206.
