Katie Bonanno of Hillsborough has been inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Katie is pursuing a degree in art history, criticism and conservation at the University of Delaware.
Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors, having at least 72 semester hours, are eligible.
Hillsborough resident Timothy A. Rath was one of the more than 600 traditional day and adult evening students earned the spring dean’s list at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa.
Dan Sheldon, a 2011 graduate of Hillsborough High School, was selected to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Baseball All-Academic team this spring. Dan will be entering his junior year at Marist College, with a double major in business/ finance and economics, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Reyne Spychalski of Hillsborough was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va.
Reyne earned a 4.0 grade-point average and is a 2011 graduate of Hillsborough High School. She majors in forensic science and minors in organic chemistry. She is completing a summer internship at the N.J. State Police crime lab in Little Falls.
In the fall semester of 2012, Reyne studied at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She also was named to the dean’s list and was the only United States citizen attending to pursue her studies in forensic science.
Megan M. Todd of Hillsborough has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at The College of New Jersey. Megan, a 2012 graduate of Immaculata High School, is a freshman at TCNJ majoring in elementary education and art.

Three Hillsborough residents were named to the dean’s list at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., for the spring semester.
They are Jessica Farraye, Carolyn Kolb, Crystal Komoroski, Erica Reiss and Marissa Sbrilli.
To qualify, students must earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C and carry at least 12 credits as a fulltime student.
Five Hillsborough students earned academic honors at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., in the spring semester.
Making the dean’s list are Vanessa Burshnic, Nicolette Minutillo and Erica Wise. Students must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899.
Making the president’s list were Alexis Cavallo and Alexandra Wysocki. To qualify for the President’s List, a student must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.9 or above.
Elyse A. Malecki, a 2012 graduate of Hillsborough High School, completed her first year of honors study at Central Connecticut State University and received dean’s list status with a 3.9 GPA. For her academic performance Elyse received a full in-state academic scholarship.
Elyse also started as a freshman on the team’s lacrosse team that finished second in the Northeast Conference, their highest conference ranking and first Northeast Conference playoff appearance. Elyse was selected to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie team and is just the second for a CCSU Blue Devil player.
Elyse finished fourth on the team with 25 points and tied for third on the squad with 22 goals. Malecki also picked up 15 ground balls, nine draw controls and four caused turnovers. She started all 17 games for the Blue Devils during her freshman campaign.

I am interested in publicizing that I am the new Director of the Hillsborough Summer Camp in Hillsborough, NJ. Hillsborough Summer Camp is a day camp that runs from 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday – Friday, from June 24 – August 23. The children range from 4 – 13 years old, with opportunities for 14 and 15 year olds to assist our counselors as CITs (Counselors in Training). The Hillsborough Summer Camp uses the Hillsborough Pool, Racquet & Fitness Center’s facilities, located at 30 Brower Lane, Hillsborough NJ, 08844.
I am currently a senior at The College of New Jersey studying music education with a concentration in horn (French horn). This will be my thirteenth summer at the camp and my seventh year working at the camp. I attached a copy of the welcome letter I send to all parents who register their children for camp. Jenna M. Parrilla of Hillsborough was named to the spring dean’s list at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pa., while in pursuit of a bachelor of science and bachelor of arts in music education and music. Dean’s list students must maintain a grade point average of 3.4 or better on a 4-point scale. Jenna graduated from Hillsborough High School.
Laura M. Rodriguez of Hillsborough earned dean’s list status for the spring semester at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. To be eligible, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale).
Rodriguez is a member of the class of 2014, and majors in English. Rodriguez graduated from Hillsborough High School.
Erin Cascio and Andrew Messina, both of Hillsborough, are among the 1528 students who earned dean’s list honors for the spring semester at State University of New York at Oneonta. To qualify, undergraduate students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 or more semester hours.
Hillsborough’s Daniel Congiusta, a sophomore in computer information systems, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
Christina Kwon of Hillsborough earned the dean’s list for the spring semester at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Students must obtain a minimum 3.4 GPA and carry at least 12 credits.
