Richard Barry Runkle to leave after 36 years

WEST AMWELL — Richard Barry Runkle, a longtime physical education teacher at South Hunterdon Regional High School district, is retiring.
Mr. Runkle’s resignation was accepted at the June 13 school board meeting. He worked for South Hunterdon for 36 years.
Today (June 20), the SHRHS Class of 2013 will graduate. The event begins at 6 p.m. on the football field, if it doesn’t rain. If it does rain, the ceremony will take place in the auditorium. Only those with tickets will be able to enter.
Also at the June 13 meeting, school board President Dan Seiter said, the board approved hiring Preferred Masonry Restoration, to do brick-pointing work in front of the high school. The firm will be paid $18,600 for the work. The approval came at the recommendation of the board’s Buildings and Grounds Committee.
Also approved by the board at the recommendation of its Building and Grounds Committee was the hiring of Stericycle, Inc., to clean out the school’s chemical neutralization tank, for $3,842.
The firm of Stinky’s was hired, for $2,364, for the annual cleaning of the school’s septic system’s holding tank.
Richard Yard was hired, for an amount not to exceed $1,100, to repair a broken cleanout pipe.
Two custodians were hired for the 2013-14 school year. Ron Cavallo was hired as evening custodian at an annual salary of $38,650.
William Wisbeski was hired as a groundskeeper and maintenance worker at an annual salary of $36,500.
Four summer custodians also were hired. Brendon Engle will be paid $12 an hour. Dianna Kastenbaum, Joseph Barbato and Ryan Wall will be paid $10 an hour.
Audrey Frankowski was hired as auditorium coordinator for the 2013-14 school year at a salary of $2,549.
