Congratulations to the Princeton Y’s renovated Wellness Center, which will reopen in early September 2013.
In recognition of the hard work the of their volunteer fundraisers, the facility will be named in honor of Jim and Nancye Fitzpatrick of Princeton, longtime residents with, as Y CEO Kate Bech describes, “a deep and rich connection to the YMCA Movement.”
The new facility will officially be known as The Jim and Nancye Fitzpatrick Wellness Center.
The renovation of the Athletic Building, called Project Jumpstart, will create an updated Wellness Center, encouraging healthy living and physical activity among people of all ages. The physical upgrade will improve the lower level area by knocking down walls to create an open space providing a centralized area for new cardio equipment, strength training and free weights.
To date, more than 40 donors have contributed $300,000 for the project, and they are hoping to raise $200,000 more.
Laura’s Salon, located at 2144 Route 130 North in the Mallard Creek Plaza, recently announced that they are celebrating their 25th year of serving the Bordentown, Florence, Columbus, Springfield and surrounding areas.
A full service salon for men and women, Laura’s originated in the Homestead Plaza in Columbus and several years ago relocated to the Shops at Mallard Creek.

During the months of July and August, the public is invited to the Princeton Airport for free tours on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. The tours will address the past 100 years of the airport; the present and the future.
I’ve had a tour, and Princeton Airport is an amazing local resource. There is much, much more that can’t be seen driving by on Route 206. The airport is a privately owned, public use facility, and offers flight training for careers, business and/or pleasure in airplanes and helicopters, sales and services of airplanes, helicopter charter, indoor and outside parking of aircraft and an extensive pilot shop.
Tours will include the aircraft based at the field including homebuilts, experimentals, aerobatic and variety of others by walking around the airport and watching the arrivals from other places. An explanation of the procedures employed by pilots and the airport management will be made to assure the safety record of Princeton Airport.
A visit into the maintenance shop will show the public how and why the aircraft must comply with the stringent Federal Aviation Regulations. At the end the visitors are welcome to sit in an airplane to understand how the controls work. The tours take approximately one hour and they are free and open to anyone, including groups.
The first tour will begin on July 3. Princeton Airport is located at 41 Airpark Road in Montgomery Township off Route 206, 3.5 miles north of downtown Princeton. For more information call 609-921-3100 or visit them online at www.princetonairport.com, but really, it’s a lot more fun in person.
