A whirlwind of collaborations with pop music’s brightest stars, as well as sessions in top-notch recording studios and treks to the country’s entertainment hotbeds, will soon bring singer Lauriana Mae home, if only for a night.
The rising singer-songwriter plans to bring her act — a fiery cocktail of jazz, R&B and hip-hop — to the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park at 7:30 p.m. June 27. Tickets for the all-ages show cost $14 in advance and $16 at the door.
Before signing to Atlantic Records, Lauriana Mae found her voice in Monmouth County, where she spent her childhood. Now, the young woman said she is eager to put on a captivating show for her hometown fans.
“You’re going to get all of me. I feel like I’m living locked inside of a box until I’m on stage,” she said. “That’s when I’m most free, most honest and happiest.”
The Stone Pony served as one of the first venues to ever host Lauriana Mae and her backup band, The Pains, she said.
That will make it all the more enjoyable for the singer to light up the stage this week. “It’s going to be nice to show the Stone Pony the progress that we have made,” Lauriana Mae added.
Fans may be in for a treat. Lauriana Mae previewed a handful of songs from her upcoming album — the name of which is currently unreleased — in May at a show in New York. The performer might unveil more new material during her upcoming gig, she said.
The record promises to be an electric blend of Lauriana Mae’s diverse influences — from soulful jazz to contemporary pop, she said.
“It’s really just a combination of the soundtracks of my life,” Lauriana Mae said. “It’s very original and unique. I don’t want to limit it.”
And this isn’t amateur hour. Lauriana Mae has recently belted vocals on tracks for CeeLo Green, B.o.B. and Action Bronson, she said.
The fast-paced nature of the music business has spun Lauriana Mae into a seemingly endless rush from one major city to the next, she said.
While hotel rooms and suitcases have become synonymous with home, the budding recording artist said she is excited to return to the area where her dream began.
“I will always love Jersey more than anywhere else. It’s my first love,” Lauriana Mae said.
