WASHINGTON CROSSING, PENNSYLVANIA: Celebrate American independence at park

All three locations — Bowman’s Hill Tower, the Thompson Neely House, and the Lower Park will be open on July 4

   All are invited to celebrate American Independence on July 4 at Washington Crossing Historic Park from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
   Happy Birthday, America will be hosted by the Friends of Washington Crossing Park and by the PHMC.
   Re-enactors will be onsite to provide a window into the past. Learn how patriots lived during the American Revolution, as well as the types of military exercises conducted at this time. There will be several commemorative musket volleys fired throughout the day by Glover’s 14th Continental Regiment. Also, there will be three readings of the Declaration of Independence from the steps of McKonkey’s Ferry Inn.
   All three locations — Bowman’s Hill Tower, the Thompson Neely House, and the Lower Park will be open on July 4.
   Admission for this event is $8 per person, which includes all three sites. Children 5-11 are $4; under 5, free.
   Tours of the Lower Park and the Thompson-Neely House regularly are available Thursdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for $6 each. Bowman’s Hill Tower is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for $6. A discounted combination ticket for all three locations is available for $11.
   Active duty military personnel and children under 4 are free. Tickets may be purchased at any of the three locations. The recreational areas of the park are open Sundays through Saturdays from dawn to dusk, weather permitting.
