FRENCHTOWN – Police are trying to determine the identity of a body found Tuesday in the Delaware River in Frenchtown, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams.

At 12:53 p.m. Tuesday, an anonymous passerby walking over the bridge reported a drowning victim floating in the river, according to Sgt. Williams.
Dr. Brimes, of the Hunterdon Medical Examiner’s Office in Flemington, pronounced the unresponsive floating male deceased, according to Sgt. Williams.
Sgt. Williams said Dr. Brimes does not believe anything appears suspicious about the death at this time.
The body was then transported to Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington awaiting an autopsy scheduled for Thursday, according to Sgt. Williams.
Police are investigating to see if the body could be related to an earlier missing persons case out of Warren County, Sgt. Williams said.
