LAMBERTVILLE: Shad Festival makes scholarships possible 

Artists, volunteers key to success

   The 2013 Shad Festival Scholarship Poster Auction raised $27,000.
   The auction would not be possible without the artists. Many donate their original works of art year after year.
   ”We also depend upon the volunteers, who make the auction run smoothly,” said a spokesman.
   The Shad Festival itself would not be possible without the support of event sponsors. This year, the Poster Auction was sponsored by Rago Arts.
   Shad Festival sponsors were Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation, Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, United Water, Comcast, NJ Lottery and Princeton Automobile Company.
   Once again Robins Egg Gallery on Bridge Street hosted the June 13 recipient reception and formed the perfect backdrop.
   The sum of $25,000 was awarded this year as follows:
   — South Hunterdon Regional High School sending district —Graduating seniors receiving awards included Sean Dale, Adeline Donnelly and Juliana Hoff. Gina Scamuffa going into her second year at Rowan University received her second award in fine art. Brandon Bacorn also received his second award and will be a junior at Ithaca College majoring in theater. Gabriel Stephens, also formerly of SHRHS and attending West Chester University, received his fourth award in the field of music. He is the first recipient of the Cheryl Greaves Memorial Scholarship for Excellence.
   — New Hope-Solebury High School sending district — A graduating senior who received an award was Genevieve Post.
   Making successful reapplications were: John Riley Frankhouser, majoring in performance/theater at Ithaca College; Storm Hurwitz, also in performance and is attending Baldwin Wallace University; and Will Tinsman, majoring in art at Alfred University, received his fourth award.
