LAMBERTVILLE: Stephens gets the first Cheryl Greaves memorial award

Cheryl Greaves was a person who exemplified both volunteer and community spirit

The Lambertville Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that the first recipient of the Cheryl Greaves Memorial Shad Fest Scholarship for Excellence is Lambertville resident, Gabriel Stephens.
At the June 13 reception for 2013 Shad Fest Scholarship recipients, David Greaves, Cheryl’s husband and longtime organizer of Shad Fest, presented this award to Gabe’s mother, Lisa Stephens.
The Shad Festival would not be possible without volunteers.
”In 2012, we lost Cheryl Greaves, a person who exemplified both volunteer and community spirit. For many years Cheryl ran the Shad Fest Scholarship Poster Auction and helped make it the fantastic event that to date has provided $450,000 in scholarships to local students pursuing a collegiate career in the arts,” said a spokesman.
Mr. Greaves “generously identified the Shad Fest Scholarship program as the charity of choice after Cheryl passed, stating that, although the scholarship bears his wife’s name, the true meaning behind the scholarship is that it acknowledges all the volunteers over the years who have made Shad Fest possible.
”The scholarship is a celebration of these volunteers and a call for new volunteers to join this community tradition,” the spokesman said.
