Seven police officers were promoted within the South Brunswick Police Department, according to officials.
”Seven officers were promoted due to superior officers retiring from the department” said Mayor Frank Gambatese. “Luckily, we were able to have experienced officers to take their place. Other police departments would not have been able to absorb this loss of talent. I am very proud of our police department, whose professionalism is second to none.”
In a ceremony that was held June 7 at the Township Municipal Building, Lt. Jim Stoddard was promoted to the rank of captain.
He previously served as an investigation lieutenant and is a 25-year veteran who lives in West Windsor.
Sgt. Leonard Hibbitts, a 29-year veteran of the department, was promoted to lieutenant after serving as a patrol sergeant. He is a twenty-nine year veteran and lives in Monroe.
Officers’ Dan Olsson, Gary Holsten, Richard Hutchison, Ron Seaman and John Penney were promoted to sergeant.
Officer’s Olsson, Penney, and Seaman were all previously detectives.
Detective Olsson is a veteran of 18 years, and 14-year veteran Detective Penney, both live in South Brunswick.
Detective Seaman, a 13-year veteran, lives in Freehold, and Holsten has been a member of the department of 14 years.
Officer Hutchison, who lives in Chesterfield and is a veteran of 15 years, and officer Holsten, of Milltown, were patrol officers.
