EAST WINDSOR: Longtime resident has poetry published

Beverly Mach Geller, a township resident for more than 80 years, has completed a new chapbook of poetry.
“Daily Bread,” which is being published by Finishing Line Press, combines poignant portraits of motherhood and old age with anecdotes about growing up during the Great Depression and reaching adulthood during World War II. Jewish themes are the basis for several poems.
With poems rich in personal and collective histories, Ms. Geller’s “Daily Bread” offers intimate meditations on family and home as well as deliberations on society’s benevolence and atrocities. Sometimes with humor and sometimes with utmost seriousness, these poems serve as artful testaments to the wisdom of experience and the power of the written word.
Ms. Geller graduated from Syracuse University School of Nursing. She was a student nurse in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. After careers in nursing and interior design, she majored in English and earned a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree from the College of New Jersey.
She is the author of seven books for children, including the recently published book of children’s poetry, “My Family and Me.” She has received the Jane McHugh Memorial Senior Award for one of her poems. Her poetry for adults and children has been published in literary journals and anthologies, such as Delaware Valley Poets, New Jersey Poetry Society, US 1 Worksheets, US 1 Summer Fiction, Kelsey Review, Poem Train and Jewish Women’s Literary Annual. Her poem, “Shabbat in Jerusalem” has been featured on derondareview.org.
She lives in East Windsor Township with her husband, Sam.
