New hotdog eatery uses old family recipe

HAMILTON — Jimmy G’s, a new hotdog restaurant, celebrated its opening June 28, modeling a special family recipe for the hot dog, including green peppers and potatoes on a torpedo roll.
Appropriately, the new restaurant is a family-oriented destination, with mostly take-out orders but some places to sit and eat inside.
”Our restaurant definitely has a family atmosphere,” Jimmy Sbarro said. “We know a lot of people like this sandwich, and they’ve been coming to our family for it for a long time.”
The concept originated with their grandfather, Tony Sbarro, in a restaurant called Casino Tony Goes.
”We opened the restaurant with this recipe in honor of our grandfather and our dad,” Mr. Sbarro, co-owner of the restaurant said.
Casino’s was an old-time restaurant in Chambersburg, and was open from 1935 until it closed in the 1970s. The recipe for their sandwiches has stayed in the family, and can now be found in Jimmy G’s.
”We know there are many people in Hamilton who came from Trenton,” Mr. Sbarro said. “We hope that the customers who went to Casino’s would come bring their families to our restaurant now for the same great food.”
There are people who remember who the sandwich, and come to Jimmy’s for that particular recipe.
”I remember going to Casino’s,” said Frank Pelleo, a 65-year-old resident of Hamilton Township. “The sandwich was good back then, and it’s good now.
Mayor Kelly A. Yaede came to the grand opening, helping the family to cut the ribbon in honor of their grand opening.
