Lots of people doing different things

   Army National Guard Pvt. Robert P. Cronce has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. He is the son of Craig Cronce, of Lambertville and a 2011 graduate of South Hunterdon Regional High School.
    Local students are joining the incoming class of Blue Hens during the University of Delaware’s New Student Orientation (NSO) program this summer. They include: Kyle Campbell, of Lambertville; Ciara Keane, of New Hope; Suzanne Sirianni, of New Hope; and Erika Waslin, of Lambertville. Each incoming student is assigned a day to visit campus, where they can interact with classmates and experience a glimpse of life at UD before the semester begins.
    Colin Hanrahan, of New Hope, a member of the Class of 2014 at Marist College, has been named to the dean’s list. He is majoring in communication.
    Christopher Guest, of Sergeantsville, was named to the Becker College Dean’s List for spring 2013. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in interactive media design.
    Local students have earned the honor of placement on the Dean’s List at The College of New Jersey for the spring 2013 semester: Felix Cadman, a junior art history major and a resident of Lambertville; Elizabeth Leach, a junior graphic design major and a resident of Stockton; Timothy Svendsen, a senior music education major and a resident of Stockton; Kaitlynn Zolnay, a senior interdisciplinary business major and a resident of Stockton; Victoria Smiegocki, a sophomore criminology major and a resident of Lambertville; Corrine Hart, a senior English secondary education major and a resident of Lambertville; Su Fen Lubitz, a sophomore psychology major and a resident of Stockton; Sharon Fisher, a senior elementary education/art major and a resident of Lambertville; Carrie Hornberger, a junior early childhood, M/S/T major and a resident of Lambertville; Alexander Cook, a sophomore computer engineering major and a resident of New Hope; Kerry Orlando, a senior nursing major and a resident of Lambertville; Thomas Caputi, a senior computer science major and a resident of New Hope; and Scott Bouloutian, a junior computer science major and a resident of New Hope. To achieve this honor, a student must carry 12 or more credits that semester and have a 3.5 grade point average or above.
    More than 21,000 people — graduates and their families and friends, including graduate Allison Pedinoff — braved gale force winds to celebrate the University of Delaware’s 164th Commencement, held May 25, at Delaware Stadium. Ms. Pedinoff is from New Hope.
    Erin Durborow, of Lambertville, was awarded a master of education degree in K-12 education from Plymouth State University at their 142nd Commencement ceremony on May 18.
    Melanie Rader, of New Hope, has been placed on the Gettysburg College Dean’s Honor list for outstanding academic achievement in the spring 2013 semester. Students with a quality point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester’s work are placed on the College’s Dean’s Honor List.
    Villa Victoria Academy graduates Kelsey A. Brewer, of Stockton, and Scarlett Christina Matoon, of Stockton, are two of 2,749 Eastern Kentucky University students who earned Dean’s List honors for the spring 2013 semester. Ms. Brewer graduated cum laude with a degree in criminal justice and was recognized at commencement ceremonies May 11l. Ms. Matoon is a criminal justice major. To achieve Dean’s List honors at Eastern, students attempting 14 or more credit hours must earn a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0. Students attempting 13 credit hours must earn a 3.65 GPA, and students attempting 12 credit hours must earn a 3.75 GPA.
    Victoria Linaberry, of New Hope, has been named to the Dean’s List at the Savannah College of Art and Design for spring quarter 2013. Full-time undergraduate students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the quarter receive recognition on the Dean’s List.
    Madison Tinkel, of New Hope, has enrolled in Coastal Carolina University for the fall 2013 semester and joins nearly 2,200 other new students in the Class of 2017. Before classes begin in August, all new first-year students will visit campus for a two-day orientation program where they will meet their academic advisors and learn what is expected of them as they transition from high school to college.
    The University of Hartford has announced that Jonathan Ruffe, of New Hope, has been named to its Dean’s List for Spring 2013.
    Daphne S. Bacon, of Stockton, was named to the Dean’s List at Boston University for the spring semester. Each school and college at Boston University has their own criterion for the Dean’s List, but students generally must attain a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), or be in the top 30 percent of their class, as well as a full course load as a full time student.
    Alison Vris, of New Hope, was named to the spring semester 2013 Dean’s List at Merrimack College. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must achieve a 3.25 grade point average or higher, based on a 4.0 grading system. She is a sophomore.
    Samuel Hill, of Stockton, a third-year student in the information technology program in Rochester Institute of Technology’s B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, made the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 quarter.
    Lambertville resident Kerry Leigh Piel, a senior whose major is health sciences, has been named to the president’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2013 semester. Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or above.
    Berklee College of Music has announced that Nicole Giermasinski, of Lambertville, has earned placement on the Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2013 academic year. To be eligible for this honor, a full-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; a part-time student must achieve a grade point average of 3.6 or above.
    Approximately 4,450 undergraduate students at the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the spring 2013 semester, including Julianna Provenzano, of Stockton. She is a sophomore studying pre-education. She was named to the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
    Basil “Billy” Malamis, of New Hope, will attend Ohio Wesleyan University this fall, where he will study zoology with an emphasis in primatology. He is a graduate of New Hope-Solebury High School. There, he was captain of the NHS Lions football team; nominated to the Bicentennial Athletic League football first team offense and first team defense; and selected for the Bucks County Football All Star Team, North League, playing both offensive and defensive line. He was a member of the NHS Lions wrestling team, winning BAL and District division titles, and qualifying for PIAA Regionals in the Heavyweight Class. He was a member of the NHS Lions lacrosse team and the only senior to receive three varsity letters during his senior year. He earned the Athletic Award, NHS Senior Class, and he represented Pennsylvania in the National Youth Summit on the Environment held at George Mason University in Washington, D.C. He is the son of Rebecca and Peter Malamis.
    The following local residents have been named to Millersville University of Pennsylvania’s Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester: Rebecca Harris, of New Hope, and Erin Hische, of New Hope. The 1,484 students named to Millersville Dean’s List earned a semester grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher and attempted at least 12 credits of course work.
    Dr. Bashar Hanna, Delaware Valley College’s vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty, announced the following students have been honored for academic achievement by being named to the spring 2013 Dean’s List: Emily Berlin, of New Hope; Kaylin Campbell, of Lambertville; Ryan Schwartz, of New Hope; Constance MacRi, of New Hope; and Regina Luczyszyn, of New Hope.
    The following students from the area were named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester at Widener University in Chester: Stephen Ziegler, of Stockton; Dana Schweizer, of New Hope; and Rachel Weller, of New Hope. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 3.50 and above for the semester.
    Mason Plummer, of Stockton, was awarded Dean’s List honors for academic achievement during the spring 2013 semester at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Dean’s List honors are awarded to full-time students at St. Mary’s College who earn a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or better on 12 or more graded credits.
    Max Whitaker, of Lambertville and a sophomore majoring in undeclared-undergraduate, is among more than 1,500 students who made the Dean’s List at Coastal Carolina University for the spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.
    Renee’ Russell, of Stockton, has been named to the 2013 Dean’s List at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia.
    Kevin Skeuse, of Stockton, was a presenter at Union College’s annual Steinmetz Symposium Day held May 10. He presented researched titled “Design and Analysis of the Transmission and Frame for the SAE Mini Baja Car.” Every year, Union College celebrates its Undergraduate Research program by inviting students to present their creative and scholarly achievements. This year, over 450 students participated in the festivities that spanned all of the college’s academic disciplines.
    Bucknell University has released the dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2012-13 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition. Students from this area who met this standard are: Christopher R. Capecci, of New Hope, son of John and Jane Capecci of New Hope, and a 2011 graduate of Council Rock High School North; Jacob R. Reisser, of Lambertville, son of Clifford Reisser, of Lambertville, and the late Cynthia Reisser, and a 2010 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School; and Andrew J. Reszka, of New Hope, son of Alfred and Joanne Reszka, of New Hope, and a 2011 graduate of New Hope-Solebury High School.
    Kaitlin Kelly, of New Hope, has been named to Gwynedd-Mercy College’s spring 2013 dean’s list. This recognizes one of the highest forms of academic excellence within a specific area of study.
    Gina Scamuffa, of Lambertville, a freshman art major at Rowan University, has made the Dean’s List for the spring 2013 semester. Students must have a GPA of 3.45 or higher to make Dean’s list.
    Lauren Gifford, of New Hope, recently was honored at Union College’s annual Prize Day celebration. She was given the William B. Jaffe (1926) Art Award for exceptional achievement by an art major, marked by excellence in the study of art history, independent scholarship and interest in the work of the department.
